Modafinil (Provigil) is used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness (narcolepsy), and shift work sleep disorder (problems adapting to different sleeping patterns). It is also referred to as a smart drug and is often used off-label to enhance brain function, mental ability and concentration.
Armodafinil has been associated with a group of medications known as Nootropics, or wakefulness-promoting drugs.
